Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a stabilized methylchloroform composition useful as a degreasing agent of metals, and a solvent for the treatment of textile, by adding specific amounts and specific ratios of morpholine and vic-monoepoxides to methylchloroform, thereby suppressing the decomposition of the methylchloroform and preventing the corrosion of metals.
CONSTITUTION: A methylchloroform composition containing 0.0005W0.05wt% of morpholine and 0.02W2.0wt% of a vic-monoepoxide such as 1,2-butylene oxide, 3-methoxy-1,2-epoxypropane, 3,4-epoxybutene, etc. The weight ratio of the monoepoxide to the morpholine is ≥15. Although the composition is usually alkaline, it keeps transparency without forming precipitates, has low corrosiveness even in the presence of water or moisture, and is extremely valuable industrial solvent.
