NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I: (R is alkyl, aryl, or aralkyl group; X is halogen).
EXAMPLE: 2-Trimethylsilyloxyallyl chloride.
USE: An intermediate for the synthesis in novel cyclic addition reactions.
PROCESS: An α-haloketone of formula II is reacted with lithium diisopropylamide in an inert solvent, e.g. tetrahydrofuran, at -100W30°C to give a lithium enolate of formula III, which is, without purification, reacted with a chlorosilane of the formula R3SiCl in the inert solvent at -100W50°C to form the compound of formula I. The resulting compound is reacted with a monoolefin or conjugated diolefin in the presence of a Lewis acid to afford a cyclic ketone.
