Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a solvent-soluble, linear high-molecular weight polyhexamethyleneimine by the reaction between a 1, 6-dihalohexane and hexamethylenediamine under a specific condition.
CONSTITUTION: A polycondensation reaction is carried out at 0W200°C (pref. 20W 150°C) between (A) a 1, 6-dihalohexane and (B) 1.0W1.4 molar times, based on the component (A), of hexamethylenediamine by adding them over 10minsW 100hrs(pref. 30minsW20hrs.) to a solvent, pref. an alcohol. The amount of the solvent is desired to be 0.5W20(pref. 1W10)wt times the total amount of the components (A) and (B). The resulting polyamine salt is then decomposed by a strong basic compound, pref. an alkali (alkaline earth) metal hydroxide, its (bi)carborate, etc. The amount of the basic compound is recommended to be 2.05W5 molar times the component (A).
