Abstract

PURPOSE: To ensure an easy and accurate measurement for the passing length and the twist pitch as well as the fault detection and others of the steel rope by detecting the periodic change of the gap caused by the shift of the steel rope via the magnetism-sensitive element provided near the steel rope.
CONSTITUTION: The 2nd detector 6 comprising magnetism-sentitive element 2 and magnet 4 is provided at the position apart in the longer direction of steel rope 1 and with a specified distance from 1st detector 5 featuring the same constitution as detector 6. These two detectors are made into a pair, and the space between them is set identical to the distances of 1/2-fold, 3/2-fold, etc. of rope 1. And the convex part of the rope surface is set to oppose to detector 6 when the concave part of the rope surface is opposing to detector 5. As a result, the periodic change of gaps 3A and 3B between rope 1 and detectors 5 and 6 caused by passing of rope 1 features the opposite phase at all times, and at the same time the vibration change of 3A and 3B in the lateral direction (arrow C) of the steel rope becomes the same phase. Accordingly,the measurement of the passing length and the twist pitch as well as the fault detection of the twist pitch and others can be carried out accurately for the steel rope by expressing the output difference of the both detectors as the detection signal.
