Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent generation of an error, when the angle of periodic rotation is subjected to A/D conversion, by making constant the spacing between an encoder plate and signal detecting means through a spacer and a spring.
CONSTITUTION: A square constituting a free parallel scale is fixed in parallel with a drawing plate 3 to a scale mounting plate 6, which is mounted on a spindle 5 made rotatable through a handle 7 with respect to a stationary plate 2. On the other hand, the encoder plate 13 of an elastic material, which is fixed to the outer periphery of the stationary plate 2, is held at a preset spacing from the signal detecting means 18, which is composed of the phototransistor 14 and light emitting diode 15 of the plate 13, by means of the IC substrate 10, which is fixed to the scale, the spacer 17, which is mounted on the plate member 11 made integral with the substrate 10, and a spring 16, thereby to accurately detect the angle of rotation of the scale.
