Abstract

PURPOSE: To employ a totally-enclosed self-cooling standard motor in short time rating, by forming rated field currents only for the time when actual load is applied, and by making up field currents, which can continuously be excited, for the period other than the above.
CONSTITUTION: A direct current motor 8 is provided with voltage corresponding to deviation between speed reference signals 12 and speed feedback signals 13. A switch 17 is normally opened, and a shunt field widning 14 is supplied with field currents that can continuously be excited. The switch 17 is closed and the shunt field winding 14 is furnished with rated field currents for the time when actual load is applied. Thus, a totally-enclosed self-cooled standard motor in short time rating can be applied though the motor is continuously operated in order to drive facilities, and ventilation and cooling facilities required for the case of continous rating can be omitted.
