Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide the title composition crosslinkable by organic peroxides or ionizing radiation, useful for electric wire covering, which comprises a specific chlorinated polyethylene, an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, an epoxy compound, and a lead compound.
CONSTITUTION: The objective composition comprising (A) 100 parts by wt. of a mixture consisting of (a) 50W90wt% of a chlorinated polyethylene having a cllorine content of 28W48wt% and a residual crystallinity ≤20%, prepared by the chlorination of a polyethylene with a melt index of 0.01W20 by means of the heterogeneous chlorination process and (b) 50W10wt% of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer having a vinyl acetate content of 5W35wt% and a melt index of 0.5W30, (B) 1W15 parts by wt. of an epoxy compound such as a bisphenol type polydiglycidyl ether, and (C) 1W15 parts by wt. of a lead compound such as red lead, white lead, etc.
