Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the AC output waveform of a voltage bridge inverter by connecting the output terminal of a chopper to the output terminals of the inverter AC phases via a plurality of thyristors.
CONSTITUTION: There are provided a voltage bridge inverter 24 energized by a DC voltage source E, a single or plurality of choppers 23 for stepping down the voltage of the source E to predetermined voltage, and a plurality of thyristors 13, 16, 19 for connecting the chopper output terminal 10 to the output terminals 20, 21, 22, respectively of the inverter 24. AC output voltage of respective phases and stages can be produced by alternatively energizing the main thyristors 11, 12, 14, 15, 17, 18 of the phases corresponding to the thyristors 13, 16, 19 in the inverter 24.
