Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a recording material capable of perfectly erasing the surface residual charge of a charge retentive layer in a short time by forming a transfer type electrostatic recording material prepared by adding a substance of high infrared absorption coefficient to the constituent, and by applying heat radiation to the charge retentive layer. CONSTITUTION:A low resistance layer is formed on a low resistance substrate, and on this layer a charge retentive layer consisting of a highly insulating resin, such as polystyrene or vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer is formed to provide a conventional electrostatic recording layer. A substance, such as nigrosine or spirit black absorbing infrared rays, preferably about 700-1100nm is added to the above charge retentive layer. The volume resistivity of this layer has to be kept above 10<12>ohm.cm in spite of addition of the above aubstance. In addition, simlar effects are obtained when the above substance of high infrared absorption coefficient is added to the substrate or the low resistance layer.
