Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the need for corner projecting and hardie processes and yet enable the permissible range of forging sizes to be widely taken by mounting a fluid pressure cylinder to the cross head which elevates the screw column fixed to a bed frame provided with a lower anvil and pivotally fitting a slide having an upper anvil oscillatably to the bottom end of a cylinder rod.
CONSTITUTION: A cross head 1 and bed frame 2 are connected by a screw column 3. As a motor 5 is driven, rotary nuts 4 are rotated, by which the corss head 1 is elevated. The top end of a vertical link 8 is pivotally fitted in the hollow through- hole of the piston rod 7 of the fluid pressure cylinder 6 which is so mounted as to pass through the approximate central part of the cross head 1. A slide 9 is pivotally fitted to the bottom end of the vertical link 8 and this is guided by stationary slide guides 10. The pressure oil from a hydraulic pressure source 21 is controlled of oil quantity with a servo valve 20 and is sent to the cylinder 6 which in turn lowers the rod 7, then the forging 14 is forged by the upper anvil 12 of the bottom face of the slide and the lower anvil 13 of the top face of the frame 2.
