Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce bending of column by bonding plates to one side of the side having two mutually opposing grooves of two stiffener plates and both sides having no grooves, bonding a plate to the remaining one side to form a box type, and alternately electroslag- or electrogas-welding the diagonal grooves with each other.
CONSTITUTION: Backing plates 7, 8 of the side having a groove 15 of stiffener plates 5, 6 and the backing plates 11, 12 of the side having a groove 17 are abutted against the mounting position of the beam of a skin plate 1 and are secured thereto. Next, skin plates 2, 3 having notches 19 thru 22 are bonded and secured to both sides having no grooves of the stiffener plates 5, 6. At this time, the notches 19 thru 22 are matched to the grooves 15 thru 18 and further a skin plate 4 is bonded and secured to the sides having grooves 16, 18, whereby the box type closed section reinforcing steel member is formed. Welding materials are inserted in the diagonal grooves 15, 18 on one side and are simultaneously electroslag- or electrogas-welded. Next, the other grooves 16, 17 are welded in the similar manner as mentioned.
