Abstract

PURPOSE: To stabilize flow at constant velocity for higher bydraulic efficiency by opening vanes in the opposite direction to the turning one of an impeller.
CONSTITUTION: An impeller 1 has several vanes 6 which are respectively put between a front plate 3 having a suction part 2 at the center of it and a rear plate 5 supported by a turning shaft 4. An outlet channel 7 opens to the external face of the impeller 1, which leads fluid suctioned from the suction port 2 outside by centrifugal force. The width W of the channel 7 in the direction of the axis grows more and more in the opposite direction to the turning one of the impeller 1. The opening in width W growing gradually takes a wedge outline in section given by the front plate 3 and rear plate 5 and the wedge may vary in area. The impeller 1 discharges fluid at even velocity that provides higher hydraulic efficiency of the pump.
