Abstract

PURPOSE: To make the loadless operation of a generator possible without actuating a circuit breaker by making the switching from a separately exciting circuit to a self- exciting circuit by a field switch and automatically shifting into a chopper operation.
CONSTITUTION: The switching from a separately exciting circuit to a self-exciting circuit is made by a field switch 1. Under the state that the switching has completed, a coil 8a of an electromagnetic contactor is deenergized, a contact 8 is turned ON, and the voltage is set by utilizing a residual voltage with a circuit (a). When the generator voltage reaches the voltage value at which a thyristor-chopper- type field regulator 3 can be operated, a voltage relay 11 is picked up and the coil 8a is energized. Then, the contact 11 is closed and the contact 8 is turned OFF, thereby shifting into the chopper operation with a circuit (b) is made.
