CONSTITUTION:The one dimensional face plate 18 made of non-flexible focusing type optical fibers constitutes a short focal length imaging system and an electron scanning type solid-state image sensor array 17 is provided in opposition to a document 1 through transparent glass of a thickness 5mm. The images on the document 1 are imaged on the solid state image sensor array 17 by the face plate 18. When the images are transmitted as time series signals and are connected to the transfer process so as to constitute the copying apparatus, then the free design as compared to conventional optical system is possible and since the sensor unit being the image input end is light in weight and small in size, the auxiliary acanning speed may be taken large and high copying speed may be obtained.
