Abstract
PURPOSE: To adjust a tandem impeller to tridimensional flow and prevent the separation of a boundary layer, by curving each vane of the impeller with a roll inclined as to the rotation axis of the impeller and providing a gap between the outlet port of an inlet vane plate and the inlet port of an outlet vane plate.
CONSTITUTION: When the vane is curved by rolling, the axis 6 of the roll is tilted as to the rotation axis B-B of the impeller so that the vane fitting angle β on a prescribed radius varies in the direction of the width of the vane. The vane is thus tridimensionally curved. The fitting angle of central plate 2 of the vane differs from that of peripheral plate 3 of the vane on its inlet side as well as on its outlet side. The vane of the tandem impeller consists of the two divided plates. The gap is formed between the outlet port of the inlet plate 1a and the inlet port of the outlet plate 1b. Bypassed flow is conducted from the positive pressure side of the inlet vane plate 1a to the negative pressure side of the outlet vane plate 1b. As a result, the impeller is adjusted to the tridimensional flow and the separation of the boundary layer is prevented.
