Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable thin sheet-form originals and even thick book-form originals to be pressure-held sufficiently by the link mechanism including the arm rod which is turnably mounted at one end to the original pressure plate and turnably mounted at the other end to the upper part of the machine body.
CONSTITUTION: When a handle 55 is raised slightly from the position A, an arm rod 53 turns with an axis 52 as a fulcrum and an original pressure plate 4 turns with a fitting 54 as a fulcrum. This causes the engaging piece 57 of a protruding rod 56 to make slide contact with the top surface of a moving frame 3. When the handle 55 is raised in succession to this, the engaging piece 57 goes beyond the sloped end part of an engaging member 59 and is detained between a detaining member 59 and a detention defining member 65, by which the original pressure plate 4 is supported in the position of the axis 52 and engaging piece 57 and is restrained in the position B.
