Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a high-reliability, compact chopper device, one diode is used as current circulation routes both for armature at power running and for a route at damping run.
CONSTITUTION: Across the power terminals 1, 2 are connected an armature chopper 9 and an armature circuit 18, in series where the circuit 18 consists of a diode 10 and such a circuit in parallel as comprising a series connection of a reactor 6, an armature 5, a contact 4, and a resistor 7 having a contact 3 in parallel. The terminals 1, 2 are connected with contacts 14, 15 in series and seriesly connected field choppers 11, 12 each having one of freewheeling diodes 16, 17 in parallel. And a field winding 13 is connected across the middles of the contacts 14, 15 and the middle of the field choppers 11, 12. The circuitry allows both the contacts 3, 4 to close at power running but only the contact 4 to close at damping run. This causes the field winding 13 to close the contact 14 allowing current to flow in the reverse direction to one at power running. This results in controlled current circulation in the armature and contributes to reduced number of diodes used and a minimized machine size.
