Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce apparatus scale and achieve the reliability of operations in speed reduction processing by operating the plate speed detecting signals of two units of un-coilers with one system.
CONSTITUTION: Speed-detecting pulse oscillators 9, 8 are provided to the drive motors 6, 7 of un-coilers 2, 3. A coil diameter operator 110 obtains coil diameters by selecting and operating the faster of the output N1, N2 of the pulse oscillators 9, 8, i.e., the pulses of the smaller diameters of the foil. The coil diameters are then operated by a length operator 120, whereby the remaining length of the coil is calculated. Next, a deivation is obtained in a cmparator 130 and when value thereof is less than permissible value, a speed reduction command is given to a speed control unit 18, whereby the speed reduction of the rolling mill is performed. This mechanism makes possible speed reduction processing with less number of parts.
