Abstract

PURPOSE:To sufficiently remove residual images and achieve miniaturization of drum without impairing processing action by diverting a process means in an electrophotographic copier. CONSTITUTION:A means 9 which applies charges to a drum 1, a means 41 which forms images on the drum 1 by using a means 10 removing said charges according to original patterns and a means 16 which trasfers the images to a transfer material 21 are provided. Prior to starting of the image formation or after ending of the transfer, the residual images are removed by rotating the drum 1 for a specified time with the charge applying means 9 being held disabled. This removal is accomplished by diverting the charge removing means 10 in the image forming means 41.
