Abstract

PURPOSE:To determine optimal ignition time in consideration of purification of exhaust gas and consumption of fuel, by using a conventional negavite pressure spark advancement characteristic as a reference and opening or closing a changeover valve to control the application of negative pressure to a second negative pressure chamber. CONSTITUTION:A first and a second negative pressure chambers 13, 27 are provided. These chambers differ in operation starting negative pressure level from each other. The displacements of diaphragms of the chambers are superposed on each other to determine the angle of ignition advancement. The first negative pressure chamber 13 of higher operation starting negative pressure level is connected to a negative pressure pick-out port 10, which is located upstream to a throttle valve provided in an air feed passage to an engine when the throttle valve is fully open. The second negative pressure chamber 27 is connected to the negative pressure pick-out port 10 through a changeover valve 35. The angle of advancement of ignition time in the application of negative pressure to both the first and the second negative pressure chambers 13, 27 is equal to the sum of that in the application of negative pressure to only the first chamber 13 and that in the application of negative pressure to only the second chamber 27.
