Abstract

PURPOSE:To adequately prepare and treat a drum prior to image formation, minimize the excessive fatigue and flaws of the drum and enable image formation to be smoothly started through simple operation by holding stop state after removal of the residual images of the drum. CONSTITUTION:A means 41 which forms images on a drum 1, a means 16 which transfers the images on a transfer material 21, a main switch which supplies power source to the apparatus in order to perform image formation and transfer, a start means for starting the image formation and transfer and a circuit which controls the rotation of the drum 1 are provided. Prior to starting of the image formation and transfer after the ON operation of the main switch, the residual images of the drum 1 are removed by rotating the drum 1 for a specified time. After the specified time thereof, the rotation of the drum 1 is stopped and the power source supply state by the main switch is held after the stop of rotation so that the operations of the image formation and transfer may be accomplished by the start means after the stop of rotation.
