Abstract
PURPOSE: To form the slag free from eluted chromium, etc. without decay by adding red mud, slate, slag or casting waste sand to the ladle having tapped after the reducing period operation of an electric furnace while the surface layer slag does not harden.
CONSTITUTION: A temperature-retaining cover body is put on the ladle which has tapped after the reducing period operation of an electric steel making furnace and upon ending of the molten steel pouring operation, the cover is removed and while the surface layer slag has hardly hardened yet, one or more kinds of red mud, slate, slag or casting waste sand are added and are discharged to a slag-off ladle. With this method, hard slag is hardly produced on the molten slag surface and the reducing period slag is improved of quality by reacting sufficiently only with the sensible heat of the molten slag. Since this slag has no elution of heavy metal ions and decary, it is effectively utilized for road bed material or the like.
