Abstract

PURPOSE:To start the lamp reliably by depositing the emitter on only inside coil while employing specific ratios between the short-circuit current of ballast and the diameter of electrode rod and the outer diameter of outside coil. CONSTITUTION:An electrode 10 filled with emitter is provided at the tip of conductive member 9, while the electrode 10 is comprised of electrode rod 11, an inside coil 12 having more than triple coil surrounding said electrode rod and an outside coil 13 surrounding said inside coil, where the emitter is deposited on only inside coil 12. The tip of electrode rod 11 is projected from the ouside coil 13 where the ratio between short-circuit current of ballast 3.0-4.1A and the diameter of electrode rod 11 is set in the range of 3.4-6.8A/mm while the ratio between said current and the outer diameter d of outside coil 13 is set in the range of 1.2-4.1A/mm. Consequently it can be started reliably even with kick voltage lower than 4kv for example.
