Abstract

PURPOSE: To limit the travel of a hydraulic cylinder and stop the limitation, by providing travel storage valves in a hydraulic circuit and switching the valves to control the quantity of liquid between two pistons in the cylinder.
CONSTITUTION: Free pistons 4, 4' are provided over and under a working piston 3 in the cylinder 1. Oil inlet/outlet ports A, B are opened into both the ends of the cylinder 1. Ports C, D are provided so that they communicate with openings over and under the working piston 3 when the pistons 4, 4' are in contact with the ends of the cylinder 1. The travel storage valves 7, 7' are provided in the hydraulic circuit. The valve 7 or 7' is switched to fill oil F between the working piston 3 and the free piston 4 or 4'. A working oil is then introduced into the cylinder through the port A or B to displace both the pistons and the oil F. When the working oil is discharged, the piston 3 is moved to a desired position. The travel is thus limited.
