Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the title composition soluble in a paraffin solvent and having excellent printing characteristics, by using a vehicle comprising a resin obtained by reacting a specific hydrocarbon resin with an unsaturated carboxylic acid (anhydride) and further reacting the reaction product with a phenolic resin.
CONSTITUTION: An acid-modified resin is prepared by reacting (A) 100 parts by weight of a hydrocarbon resin obtained by the copolymerization of (a) 100 parts of a 5-membered compound (Diels-Alder addition compound) of formula (H is hydrogen; R is 1W3C alkyl, m and n are ≥0; m+n is 6), and (b) 5W50 parts of terpentine oil, diisobutylene and/or nonene, with (B) 1W15 parts of an unsaturated carboxylic acid (anhydride), such as acrylic acid. 100 parts by weight of the acid- modified resin is reacted with 5W100 parts by weight of a phenolic resin derived from a phenol having 4W9C alkyl substitution group and formalin, and the resin thus prepared is used as the vehicle of the objective printing composition.
