Abstract
PURPOSE: To ensure that residual water in pipes can be discharged easily and the pipes can be pulled up easily, by providing a closable communication port near the downstream end of the discharge pipe of a jet pump which pipe serves also as the suction pipe of a centrifugal pump.
CONSTITUTION: A jet pump 2 comprises: a check valve 3 arranged on the upstream side; a jet consisting of a jet body 4, nozzle 5, and venturi 6; a pressure pipe 7 for supply of jet pump driving water; and a discharge pipe 8 which serves also as the suction pipe of a centrifugal pump 1. A coupling 13 arranged near the downstream end of the pipe 8 is formed with a closable communication port 14, which is normally closed by a cap 16 through a packing 15. When the jet pump 2 needs to be pulled up, the port 14 is opened and a high-pressure gas is injected, which enables discharge of the residual water in pipes 7 and 8 facilitates the pulling-up work.
