Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the convecting effects in a furnace so that the center and end portions of a sample can be heated at an identical temperature by forming an exhaust passage in the inner sides of a pair of facing furnace walls.
CONSTITUTION: Exhaust passages 5 and 5' are constructed of the inner walls 2 and 2', which are formed at their upper ends 3 and 3' with clearances 4 and 4' within a pair of facing walls 1 and 1' of a refractoriness testing furnace. Flames are injected from a plurality of burners 7, which are mounted in the other facing furnace walls 6 and 6', thereby to heat the lower side of a test piece 8. Thus, the exhaust gases are made to flow down through the clearnaces 4 and 4' between the inner walls 2 and 2' and the test piece 8 and through the passages 5 and 5' whereas their portions are guided from inner exhaust passages 11 and 11' to flues 10 and 10'. As a result, the center and end portions of the test piece can be heated at an identical temperature by the convecting effects within the heating furnace.
