Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve an efficiency in operation on small flow side by changing sectional area of a passage in a volute casing of centrifugal pump accordingly to an operating point.
CONSTITUTION: A square volute casing 1 is combined with a casing liner 3 and a casing cover 4, and an impeller 5 is mounted on a pump shaft 6. The volute casing 1 is provided with a wall face 1a crossing at right angles correspondingly to the pump shaft 6, in which in enclosed a divider 2 which can be moved in parallel with the wall face 1a by a driving gear 7 set on the outside wall of the volute casing. From moving the divider 2 upwards by the driving gear 7, the sectional area of a passage formed with the inside of the volute casing opposite to the divider 2, the inside of the divider 2, the casing liner 3 and the casing cover 4 is decreased, thus moving maximum efficiency point of the pump to small flow side.
