Abstract
PURPOSE: To achieve the miniaturization of the camera and the improvement in distance measuring accuracy by taking the right and left images into a memory by time division techniques by way of one imaging optical system and one photoelectric conversion array, comparing two sets of information and obtaining distance information.
CONSTITUTION: Two rays, right and left, from the distance measuring target are alternatly led to one imaging optical system 1 and one photoelectric conversion array 2 through opening and closing of a shutter 7. From the photoelectric conversion array 2, a video signal is outputted and the grade signal of 9 bits is obtainable from a differentiation circuit 12. The grade signal from an optical axis 4 is inputted to each bit of a shift register 14 and the grade signal from the ray directing to a view point 6 is inputted to each bit of a shift register 15. While the shift register 15 is shifting the signal of each 1 bit, the signals of both registers are compared in a comparator 16 and the place of the shift when the contents coincide most is selected in a detecting circuit 17. The distance is detected by the value of this place. In this way, the miniaturization of the camera is achieved.
