Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain better images as to reproduction of images and sound signals recorded on a discoid recording medium, by reproducing video signals by a sound signal reproducing device in still or slow-motion image reproduction.
CONSTITUTION: On the internal surface of discoid recording medium 1 made of a transparent material, image-signal and sound signal recording surfaces 2 and 3 are provided. Recording surfaces 2 and 3 are irradiated with laser beams from laser light source 5 through optical systems 6 and 7, and 11 and 12 and image signals and sound signals from detectors 8 and 13 are outputted and then applied to signal processors 10 and 14. To obtain still pictures or slow-motion pictures, the position of lens 12 of a sound optical system is controlled and video signals from detector 13 are obtained and mixed with those from detector 8 to obtain an excellent reproduced picture.
