Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the surface of molten metal from contacting the atmosphere by spouting non-oxidative gas to the surface of the molten steel from the circumference of the non-immersion part of the lance at the time of blowing the non-oxidative gas with the immersion lance into the molten metal in ladle.
CONSTITUTION: The lance 1 covered with refractories is immersed through the opening part 71 of the cover 7 of the ladle 4 containing molten steel 5. Non-oxdative gas is blown through the upper inlet hole 2 of the lance 1 to stirr the molten steel 5. Or refining agents such as deoxidizer, desulphrizer, etc. are blown together with the non-oxidative gas. At this time, the non-oxidative gas is simultaneously introduced through the inlet hole 32 of the lance 1 and is spouted onto the molten steel surface from the hood 34 provided around the lance 1. The exposed surface 51 of the molten steel is covered with the non-oxidative gas by the bubbles 8 of the non-oxidative gas. In this way, the molten steel 5 is cut off from contacting with the atmosphere, and the degradation of its quality by absorbing oxygen, nitrogen and hydrogen from the inside of air is obviated.
