Abstract
PURPOSE: The title resin composition having improved flame retardancy, without degrading the unique property of the resin, prepared by incorporating or preliminarily reacting glycidyl ether of a nuclear brominated novolak with a cyanate and a maleimide.
CONSTITUTION: A composition prepared by incorporating or preliminarily reacting a mixture or a reaction product between (A) a cyanate having two or more cyanate groups in the molecule, its prepolymer, or a prepolymer of A and an amine and (B) a maleimide having two or more maleimide groups in the molecule, or its prepolymer, or a prepolymer of B and an amine, with 10W35wt% of (C) glycidyl ether of a nuclear brominated novolak. A reaction product of a novolak from a brominated phenol as a phenol component with epichlorohydrin is preferred as (C).
