Abstract

PURPOSE: To separation-extract Co from a Ni, Co and Zn-contg. soln. by treating the soln. with an alkylphosphonic acid monoalkyl ester-contg. org. solvent adjusted to pH 1.5W4 to separation-remove the Zn and extracting the Co from the Zn-free soln. with the above org. solvent adjusted to pH 3.5W7.
CONSTITUTION: In separation of Co and Ni from a Ni and Co-contg. soln. in which Zn is mixed, the Zn is separation-removed beforehand. In order to remove the Zn, an org. solvent is prepared by diluting an alkylphosphonic acid monoalkyl ester extracting reagent of formula I (where R1 and R2 are same or different 8W10C alkyl yet R1 and R2 both are not 8C alkyl) with kerosine or the like. This solvent is adjusted to pH 1.5W4 with an acid, regulated to 30W70°C, and mixed with the Ni, Co and Zn-contg. soln. to extract the Zn into the solvent. the Zn-free, Ni and Co-contg. soln. is then mixed with the above-mentioned org. solvent adjusted to pH3.5W7 while stirring to extract the Co into the solvent, thereby separating it from the Ni.
