Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove check digits causing an overflow during the printing operation by indicating thereof detected with an overflow detection mechanism.
CONSTITUTION: As in response to a feed by a check digit type wheel 14, a check digit indicating an overflow is placed at the printing position, a latch pawl 18 engages projection on a gear 16 and a detection lever 22 turns in the direction A to push the right lower nd of a lever 52. Consequently, a slide member 58 previously retained is released with the disengagement of a pawl 54. The member 58 moves to the right by a force of a spring 56 causing a hammer 72 to strike a bell 68. At the same time, the movement of a shutter section 64 exposes the overflow indication 66 to inform an operator of the occurence of overflowing. The slide member 58 is fitted into a lock groove 74 on a control shaft 40 to check the printing against any push on the knob 38.
