Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a continuously porous silicone rubber molded article having improved hydrophilic nature, by blending a diorganopolysiloxane with specific alcohol compound (derivative) and a catalyst for silicone rubber curing, followed by curing under heating.
CONSTITUTION: A) 100 Parts by wt. of a diorganopolysiloxane shown by the formula I [R is (un)substituted monofunctional hydrocarbon group; n is 1.98W2.02] is blended with B) 0.5W150 parts by wt. of an alcohol compound (derivative), e.g., ethyl alcohol, ethylene glycol, etc., having a boiling point not lower than 70°C and a solubility parameter not less than 1.7 larger than that of component A and C) a catalyst for silicone curing, e.g., benzoyl peroxide, dicumyl peroxide. The resulting blend is formed and cured at about 100W250°C to give a continuously porous silicon rubber molded article.
