Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a high-permeability alloy film free from internal strain for use as magnetic heads by use of an amorphous magnetic alloy consisting of (Fea, Cob, Nic)x(Sie, Bf)y having the specified values of a to f, x and y.
CONSTITUTION: A thin film is formed by using an alloy consisting of (Fea, Cob, Nic)x(Sie, Bf)y where a to f, x, and y are selected to be zero or a positive integer. That is, the values are specified as follows: a+b+c=1, e+f=1, x+y=100, 3≤ ax≤7, 0≤cx≤10, 25-7c≤y≤27.5-8e, 0.20≤e≤0.55. In order to form the thin film using the alloy, the alloy is melted, and very quickly cooled at a cooling rate of 104W106°C/s to be solidified into a thin film of an amorphous alloy. The process provides an alloy having excellent properties in all of magnetic strain, permeability, dimensional stability with time, dynamic property and thus suitable as magnetic heads for computers and audio applications.
