Abstract

PURPOSE: To raise the treatment efficiency of organics with lesser amounts of coagulant by the procedure in which leachate from the wastes dumping site is once subjected to a sand filtration treatment and then to a biological oxidative treatment.
CONSTITUTION: The leachate from the wastes dumping site, stored in the storage basin 4, is first sent to the sand filtration process 21 to remove flocs present, and then introduced into the biological and catalytic oxidative treatment process 5 to adsorb and decompose soluble organics present on biological membrane adhered to the filter medium of the biological and catalytic oxidative tank. In case where the amount of soluble heavy metals present in the treated water from the process 5 does not meet the effluent standard, the treated water is further subjected to the coagulating sedimentation process 6 and then to the sterilization process 8 for discharge to the river 9.
