Abstract

PURPOSE: To stably support a glass cutting tip and prevent inclination of the tip by putting both ends of a support shaft inserted in the tip into pipelike bearings and pressing the bearings with pressing plates attached to a holder to reduce abrasion of the shaft portion.
CONSTITUTION: Both ends of support shaft 2 inserted in disklike glass cutting tip 1 made of sintered hard alloy are put into pipelike bearings 3 made of high hardness material and formed into conical or inclined planes at the ends corresponding to tip 1. Bearings 3 are put into holes 5 made in the head of holder 4, and tip 1 is placed in groove 6 cut in the head of holder 4 in a direction perpendicular to the axial lines of holes 5 to attach tip 1 to holder 4. Pressing plates 7 for pressing bearings 3 are attached to the sides of holder 4 with small screws 8 through pressing springs 9. Divided portion 10 formed by dividing part of holder 4 in a direction perpendicular to the axial lines of holes 5 using groove 6 as the boundary is bonded with screw 11 to facilitate setting of bearings 3 and tip 1 to holder 4.
