Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for trigger transformers and make photo detecting circuit simple by triggering a 2-terminal switching element subordinately through triggering of a 3-terminal thyristor thereby turning a main thyristor OFF. CONSTITUTION:When the shutter of the camera is pushed and a main thyristor 4 is triggered, a discharge tube 3 emits light. When the flash quantity becomes the equantity necessary for the sensitivity of the film, a 3-terminal thyristor 10a is triggered and is turned OFF by a photo detecting circuit 14b. This causes the charging voltage sum of the capacitors 1, 6 to be applied to the loop of the main capacitor 1, reactor 2, 2-terminal switching element 20, commutating capacitor 6 and thyristor 10a, by which the element 20 is subordinately triggered and the thyristor 4 is turned OFF. Hence, the main thyristor is turned OFF by one set of photo detecting circuit without using any trigger transformer, thus the commutating circuit becomes of the simple constitution and operates surely.
