Abstract

PURPOSE: To remarkably enhance the sulfide corrosion cracking resistance of a low alloy steel as a material for a casing, etc. used in an oil well for crude oil, etc. by adding W and Cu to the steel and further adding Cr, Mo and Ni at the same time.
CONSTITUTION: Casings, oil well pipes and oil well tip members used in an oil well for crude oil, natural gas, etc. are manufactured using a low alloy steel of a compsn. contg. C 0.02W0.30%, Si 0.1W2.0%, Mn 0.1W1.5%, P<0.015%, S<0.01%, Al 0.01W0.15%, Cu 0.15W0.30%, W 0.005W0.10%, Cr 0.05W2.0%, Mo 0.1W0.8% and Ni 0.03W1.5% or further contg, a rare earth element 0.001W0.05% and/or Ca 0.001W0.01% and Ti 0.001W0.05% and/or B 0.0005W0.005%. The steel may contain one or more out of Nb 0.01W0.1%, V 0.01W0.1%, Zr 0.01W0.15% and Sb 0.01W0.15%.
