Abstract
PURPOSE: To cool heat sources of automobile quietly and effectively, by forming an open-air passage between heat sources like exhaust pipe and a partition wall located adjacently of the heat source, and causing electrostatic wind through said passage by corona discharge that is caused by an electrode means.
CONSTITUTION: At the bottom of floor 1 of automobile shaped in the form of a curved recess, a baffle 7 is supported by stay 6 in the manner that it extends along the bottom surface of said recess. The baffle 7 is shaped in a circular form to enclose natural convection of air heated by exhaust pipe 3, so that an open-air passage 9 capable of passing open air smoothly therethrough is formed between the baffle 7 and exhaust pipe 3, with its open end being located on the side of electrode means 8. With such an arrangement, when negative DC voltage is impressed to a needle- shaped electrode 80 of electrode means 8 from a high-voltage producing source 10, corona discharge is produced between the baffle 7 and electrode means 8, and at the same time, a function for drawing low-temperature open air into the passage 9 is promoted by electrostatic wind caused thereby. Therefore, heat transmitted from exhaust pipe 3 to floor 1 can be shielded effectively and cooling effect can be enhanced.
