Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce wiring and power consumption by intermittently lighting several display units over a scan.
CONSTITUTION: The counter of timing generator 6 sends selective signal 5-1W5-4 in sequence by repeating count-up and over-flow. Data are sequentially read out from memory 1 and decoded 2 to generate segment selective signals, which are supplied to display units 4-1W4-4 through driver 3. Since selective signals 5-1W5-4 are sequentially activated simultaneously, display units 4-1W4-5 come on in sequence to display data. This constitution reduces manufacturing and operation cost.
