Abstract

PURPOSE: To dehydrate the sludge to reduce a water content thereof to below a specific value by a mechanism wherein a high molecular flocculating agent and saw ducts are mixed with the digested sludge treated by digestion which is generated from a sewage disposal installation or a body waste disposal installation and thereafter introduced into a screw press apparatus equipped with a heating apparatus therein.
CONSTITUTION: The digested sludge treated by digestion which is generated from a sewage disposal installation or a body wastes disposal installation is introduced into a mixing tank 1 and mixed with a cationic organic high molecular flocculating agent and saw dusts. Thereafter, the obtained mixture is introduced into a screw press apparatus 2 wherein a steam is introduced into a screw barrel and the sludge can be dehydrated under heating. In this, screw press apparatus, the sludge is dehydrated to reduce the water content thereof to below 60% and thereafter is introduced into a compositing apparatus 4 to be subjected to a compositing treatment. This method enables the reduction of a dehydrating apparatus compared to a filter press or a vacuum filter method and the energy consumption is low compared to a hot air drying because the screw press and the compositing operation are combined.
