Abstract

PURPOSE: To achieve the simplification of work and the reduction of cost by using water-soluble material as a core for molding the vent duct of cast rotors.
CONSTITUTION: In aluminum casting of the vane 1, shortcircuit ring 2 and rotor bar 4 of the cast rotor with vent duct, silicon steel plates 3 and water-soluble cores 6 of the thickness equal to the width of the vent duct are alternately fitted onto a shaft 5 and are laminated. This assembly is set in the specified metal mold 7 and molten aluminum is poured into the cavity. After solidification of the molten metal, the assembly is taken out from the metal mold and is dipped in a water cell to dissolve away the cores. This method enables the influx characteristic of the molten metal to be enhanced and the vent duct to be formed without requiring heating.
