Abstract

PURPOSE: To contain optical fibers accurately in grooves and achieve the improvememt in productivity by providing cover plate with tubular body at the intermediate point between a rotary cage and the position where the fibers are contained in spacer grooves and rotating under control this cover plate independently.
CONSTITUTION: A required number of optical fibers 1 are let off from a rotary cage 10. On the other hand, a spacer 5 is let off from behind the cage 10. This spacer is provided spirally with grooves for containing a plurality of fibers. A cover plate 14 with a rotatable tubular body is provided between the die 16 for containing the optical fibers and the rotary cage. This cover plate 14 is integrated with tubular body 12 and cover plate 13 and this cover plate 14 with tubular body is so controlled and revolved as to follow up the pitch of the spiral grooves. Thereby, the optical fibers may be accurately contained in the spiral grooves and productivity improved.
