Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance dimensional accuracy and reduce variations in position dimensions with the one made of plastic molding by using a silicone plate having optical fiber fixing grooves and positioning grooves and a silicone plate for positioning. CONSTITUTION:A silicone plate 3 having grooves formed by etching is contained in a molded plug 1 and fibers are supported in said grooves. A positioning silicone plate 4 is contained in a holder 2 having the role of a guide for accurately butting two plugs. In order to butt the two molded plugs 1, the positioning grooves 7 for the silicone plate 3 in the plug and the protrusions 8 of the positioning silicone plate 4 are provided. Butting may be accomplished by fitting both to each other. The use of the silicone plates 3, 4 in this way enables the fibers at the plug ends to be accurately butted.
