Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a protective tube with excellent heat resistance, impact resistance and mechanical intensity by winding refractory fiber (string, tape, colth), which is impregnated with a specific refractory and corrosion resisting aggregate and refractory binder, around a cast iron tube or a steel tube.
CONSTITUTION: Refractory fiber (alumina fiber, silicon carbide fiber, etc. not melted at temperature up to 1200°K) (string, tape) is impregnated with paste mixture that contains refractory and corrosion resisting aggregate (powders of alumina, magnesia, oxides of alkaline earth metal, with corrosion resistance to flux and chlorine) and refractory binder (refractory clay, aqueous silica sol, ethyl silicate hydrolysis, etc. stable at temperature up to 1200°K). It is wound around the cast iron tube or steel tube and is dried to form a covering layer of 1W20mm thickness.
