Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the title powdery compound useful as a raw material for foods and medicines continuously in high yield without care of discoloration and requiring agitation, drying, and pulverization steps, by spray-drying an aqueous solution of sodium acetate.
CONSTITUTION: A 5W60 wt.% aqueous solution of sodium acetate is spray-dried in a drying tower at about 80W200°C without any other special condition. For example, a 30W50 wt.% aqueous solution is dried in a drying tower 3m in diameter and 12m in height of a spray dryer at a tower temperature of 80W150°C and a feed rate of 100W300 l/hr. The spray dryer may be of the rotating disc or nozzle type.
