Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent leakage from the sealed surface accurately by interposing an elastic hollow member between seal surfaces as opposed to each other in the sealing thereof and having thereof expanded enough to adhere to the surfaces.
CONSTITUTION: When sealing the intended surfaces as opposed to each other, for example, a shell side partition 3 having a seal surface 3a and a core side rib 6 having a seal surface 6a, a hollow member 13 made of an elastic material is interposed between both the seal surfaces 3a and 6a. Then, for example, a wire 16 is inserted into holes provided on the shell side plate and the hollow member 13 is packed with a bar-shaped elastic material 15 tensioning the shell from outside by the wire so that it is expanded enough to adhere to both the seal surfaces 3a and 6a. The bar-shaped elastic material 15 is formed by winding a number of piano wires 15b or the like around the core 15a radially and spirally.
