Abstract

PURPOSE: To curtail the exchange time of welding electrodes, by disposing a plurality of guide wheel sets on both sides of lifting frame provided on a truck moving between entry and exit side frames at right angle to the strip advancing direction, and inserting hangers for supporting the electrodes moving in reverse direction to each other between said wheels.
CONSTITUTION: When an electrode exchange device is carried into a welding machine, the configuration of upper and lower welding electrodes 8, 10, frames 7, 9, and hangers 28, 29 for supporting the welding electrodes is as shown in (a) in the drawing. The power of motor is transmitted to pinions 34, 35, and racks 30, 31 are driven. Therefore, the hangers 28, 29 for supporting the electrodes advance in mutually opposite directions being held by guide wheels 26, 27 on both sides, and the arms of hangers 28, 29 are located in position (b) in the lower part of lower welding electrode 10. Operating, then, a cylinder 19 to lift a lifting frame 20, the electrode 10 is lifted together with the electrode 8 integrally by means of the arm to such an extent that the upper surface of the electrode 8 may not be in contact with the lower surface of the frame 7, and a slight gap is formed between the lower surface of the electrode 10 and the upper surface of the frame 9.
